Mojib * May Day Revisited.

A track from swedish producer Mojib, Staffan Ulmert, who re-versioned 'May Day', a song released in 2007 by UNKLE (which also featured Liela Moss from the 'Duke Spirit')
The track is mashed together by lo-fi indie act The Radio Dept with Mojib adding his own piano and acapella melodies with the result being an interesting fusion of alternative indie, rock and electronica. Smart.

After putting out a couple of 12"s out on the 'Tiny Sticks' label, San Francisco producer Michoacan's debut single for DFA has been pretty much a constant in my record bag for a few months now. Brilliant bit of mid-tempo synthy disco given the re-rub treatment by mental Italian diskoid duo 'Clap Rules'. Excellent gear.

The recent news that Mr Weatherall has gone all 'workrate' on us and already knocked together the follow up to 'A Pox On The Pioneers' came as quite a suprise here at T.O.L.A.S. To whet any disko appetites out there, here's a recent track that he premiered on his 6 Music show a few weeks back. Sounding as though it's cut from the same cloth as both 'Brother Johnsons Traveling Disco Consultancy' and his 'Uptown' remix this could also signal that theres a new 'Boardroom' record on it's way too!!

Holy Ghost & The DFA Celestial Choir Vs Friendly Fires.

Oh these crazy music types eh, what are they like? As the story goes, last July the chaps from Friendly Fires had a few beers and made a pact with the Holy Ghost! mob in which each band would cover the others' track. And, although it's taken them a while, the results of the project were finally unleashed last month. Friendly Fires have cover the DFA duo's 'Hold On' while Holy Ghost will cover FF's 'On Board'. The new package, cleverly titled, ‘Hold On / On Board’ will be available on a split 12" and download next week and will feature instrumental version of both tracks. So there! Anyway, it's out this Friday. Thanks to DFA/XL.
